Vibe: Creative, hip and continually evolving. It’s where historic saltbox & Hydrostone homes meet modern day builds.

Walkability: Extremely high. Everything from coffee to restaurants to parks are a 10-minute walk.

Jess' Picks:

  • wing night at Stillwell Freehouse

  • Luke's for the best sourdough bread

  • the tuna melt at Hali Deli

  • try bouldering at Seven Bays

  • the traditional or salmon breakfast sandwich at Rambler's

  • skate on the Halifax Oval

  • enjoy a beer on the Good Robot Commons patio in the Summer months (the Diablo is my personal favourite)

  • $10 free play Sundays at the arcade under Propeller Brewing

  • sit at the bar at EDNA

  • eat the tuna tartare at Bar Kismet

  • wander the shops of the Hydrostone; Liquid Gold for olive oil, Made in the Maritimes Artisan Boutique

  • Reta's restaurant

  • Fort Needham (for dogs and kids to play) & The Halifax Explosion Memorial

Schools of note: St. Joseph’s-Alexander McKay Elementary (a brand new building), Hydrostone Academy (pre-primary-12),  Citadel High, Tiny Lab for Early Learning (apply early, this place is popular)

Price Point: A high demand area. Entry-level starts around $550k–$650k, while renovated homes easily crest $850k+.
